Rick Harig
Rick is in his second stint as the FHS Head Coach. He coached 22 seasons at Fairview (14 as FHS Head Coach and 20 as the Legion A Head Coach) before taking some time off to work with some college and professional players and teams. Harig also scouted part-time for 3 different MLB teams for 15 years during his first stint. In the Harig era, Fairview teams won 8 Legion A State Championships, one Spring State Title, and also appeared in the Western Region 8 Final Four 5 times, earning the team two trips to the American Legion World Series. When asked what he remembers most, Harig (now in his 25th season) said, “The relationships with the players and their parents – the hardware sits on a shelf and collects dust, but the relationships last a lifetime.”
In 2005, Harig created and developed the Cognitive Advantage Program (CAP). The CAP is a systematic performance and development coaching program that he has toured the country with. The San Diego Padres, the University of Nebraska, and Texas A&M were some of his more high profile clients.
